IBYS launches new Solution for QoE Measurement of Smartphone End-Users

Ibys Technologies announces the launch of the new solution "IBYS PhoneMonitor". This new solution allows measuring the quality of experience (QoE) of Smartphones / Blackberry end-users while accessing simple and composed services in single and multi-channel mobile environments.

IBYS PhoneMonitor is a solution that is capable of measuring the real experience of subscribers that uses Smartphones and Blackberries accessing simple and composed mobile services that Telecommunication operators offer through their GSM, GPRS, UMTS and HSPA networks. The solution is able to manage and monitor events of services such as Voice, Message Services, Internet Services, etc. according to the use of the Smartphone by the subscriber and collects this monitored data into a central database where it is translated to subjective User Experience Key Performance Indicators.

The solution consists of two main modules; a small software client installed in the Smartphone / Blackberry and a central Web Server Application for the complete managing and supervision of the monitored user experience.

The software installed within the End-User Terminal (Smartphone) collects information about the real use of services by the subscribers. This software client monitors the activity of the subscribers’ use of the services. The data generated by the activity is sent periodically to a central database server which processes and analyzes the produced information generating KPIs and quality reports. The communication between the Smartphone and the Server is completely transparent to the subscribers.

The Server provides also a centralized complete supervision for each Smartphone besides real-time monitoring tools for network coverage, Cell ID, LAC, 2G or 3G availability, radio signal lost, fading, cell handoff and also internal data from the device itself (like battery status, etc). It also registers based on GPS the movements of an end-user which can be graphically presented as routes in a map using GoogleMaps.

IBYS’ CEO, Fernando Palop, says, “Although QoE is perceived as something subjective, it is the only measurement that is really relevant for customers of a certain service. Being able to measure the experience of customers in a controlled manner helps operators to understand what may be wrong with their services. The only way to know how customers see your business is to look at it from their perspective. IBYS Phone Monitor is an innovative and cost-effective solution that provides these measurements of the subscribers’ experience and gives the operator the right understanding of the functioning of their service from the point of view of the end-user.”

IBYS launches new Version of its PDA QoS Testing Solution

Madrid (June 30, 2010), Ibys Technologies, a Spanish independent provider of End-to-end “Quality of Service” (QoS) Testing, Performance and Monitoring Solutions, announces the launch of the new version of its solution “Xplorer QoS Programmable Device”. This new version allows to execute tests and to measure the Quality of Service of telecommunication networks based on GSM, GPRS, UMTS and HSPA just using a PDA.

Ibys Technologies’ core solution Xplorer QoS System until now used Probe Units that are in charge of executing all Quality of Service tests. Each of these Probe Units simulates complex end-user behaviour handling up to 8 test interfaces at the same time. Like end-users, the Probe Units use devices like PDA, commercial and industrial cell phones, PSTN lines, xDSL routers, WiMAX interfaces, etc. for the testing process, either for fixed location as for driving tests.

The new version is now able to monitor Network, Voice, Messaging and Internet services without having the PDA physically connected to a Probe Unit. The new Xplorer QoS Programmable Device is a remote Mobile Terminal that allows testing and monitoring the Network, Voice, Messaging and Internet services at any site or place without having to install a complete Probe Unit. This device communicates automatically with the Control Unit, for programming tasks, collected measurement data and to notify alarms.

The Programmable Device works as an autonomous device that is managed, configured and programmed from the Control Unit of the Xplorer system just like any standard Probe Unit. The Programmable Device collects and measures all the necessary parameters that are send to Xplorer’s Control Unit, the central administration, configuration and reporting server, which is in charge of processing and analysing the collected data to generate QoS Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and the desired quality reports. The route of Walk Tests can be visualized within the Geographical Map Representation Module of the centralized Reporting System. The physical communication between the Control Unit and the Programmable Device is performed in a completely transparent manner to the user.

The Control Unit also provides a complete centralized supervision of all PDA, which provides real-time monitoring tools for Network Coverage, Cell-Id, LAC and availability of either 2G or 3G, Loss of RF signal, fading, Cell Changes, Device internal data (battery status and device capabilities).

Ibys’ CEO Fernando Palop says, “The Xplorer QoS Programmable Device is the new generation of Monitoring and Testing of Quality of telecommunication services. This new version of our solution doesn’t only give the operators the chance to acquire a lightweight but complete QoS/QoE solution enabled for a massive KPI monitoring, it also provides a system which is able to measure QoS/QoE in places where fix Probe Units and Driving Tests Probe Units cannot reach as on Walk Tests in Shopping Malls, Governmental Buildings, Executive offices or floors in companies, etc.”

The new version of Xplorer QoS Programmable Device can run as an independent solution or as an extension module to Xplorer QoS System.

QoS for Blackberry Services by Using only a Phone

Madrid (November 19, 2009), Ibys Technologies, the Spanish market leader of End-to-end “Quality of Service” (QoS) Testing, Performance and Monitoring Solutions, announces the extension of its End-to-End QoS solution Xplorer by adding a brand new module that is able to execute tests and to measure the quality of Blackberry services by using just a Blackberry phone.

Ibys Technologies’ Solution Xplorer QoS System uses Probe Units that are in charge of executing all Quality of Service tests. Each of these Probe Units simulates complex end-user behavior handling up to 8 test interfaces at the same time. Like end-users, the Probe Units use devices like Blackberry phones, commercial and industrial cell phones, fixed lines, xDSL routers, WiMAX interfaces, etc. for the testing process.

The new module grants independence to the Blackberry phone and allows monitoring Blackberry services without having the phone physically connected to a Probe Unit. A small Software Agent installed on the Blackberry device monitors the Blackberry services and sends the monitoring data to Xplorer, where the data is processed. The scheduling of all activities is done on the Xplorer System. In addition to the Blackberry service test, this module also allows a monitoring of the device itself. The Xplorer Web interface provides a Real Time Monitor of all active Blackberry devices as well as a historical Log.

Ibys’ CEO, Fernando Palop says, “This new module is absolutely perfect for the operators to deliver best-of-breed services to their Corporate Customers and increase the loyalty of these. This new module within Xplorer is able to monitor the quality of service in the native environment of the end-user itself, places like offices, the VIP lounge in the airport, Malls, etc., where conventional monitoring probes don´t reach.”
